Lockdown Lifted At Pikes Peak Community College
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Colorado Springs lifted a lock down at Pikes Peak Community Campus at about 9:30 p.m. Friday.
Officers escorted students and faculty off the campus after reports of a possible gunman.
Police are looking for Justin Corbett. They believe he broke into a storage unit near the school and then ran onto campus.
Corbett, 28, was not found after officers conducted a room to room search.
He is described as a white man, about 160 pounds with short dark hair and a short, dark beard. He is wearing a dark blue tank top and dirty blue jeans.
Police believe he was involved in a home burglary earlier this week in which a number of guns were stolen.
Students were initially notified of the campus lockdown via text message. Here is what it read: "There has been a report of an armed gunman at the Centennial Campus. If you're at the campus, shelter in place (lock yourself in your classroom/office and avoid detection). Details to follow."
