Light Rail One Step Closer To Lakewood
LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)- The Regional Transportation District opened their latest piece of the light rail expansion project on Thursday- a bus station and a new Park 'N Ride near the Federal Center in Lakewood.
Eventually, the location will become a stop on the light rail line that will stretch from downtown Denver to Golden.
The RTD site will hold up to 1,000 cars and be able to bus people into the heart of downtown Denver. It's one of the largest stops on the new light rail line.
Transportation experts believe it will be part of the most environmentally friendly transit systems ever made.
"Our goal was to improve the site and make it the greenest site anywhere in the country by the year 2020," said General Services Administration spokeswoman Sue Damour.
