Libyans In Colorado Hold Celebration Rally At State Capitol
DENVER (CBS4) - Libyans living in Colorado gathered that the state Capitol on Tuesday to celebrate and show their support for the people they call "freedom fighters" in their home country.
They also showed plenty of hatred for Muammar Gaddafi.
"He's a rat, he's a rat, he's a rat," one man yelled at the rally.
Libyan flags were flying proudly in front of the Capitol all afternoon. There were men, women and children -- some born in Libya, some born in the United States. They were all united and thrilled rebel forces had stormed Gaddafi's military compound. They're anxious for his 42 years of oppression to end for good.
"(It's a) pivotal time in history that this happened … that the freedom fighters have taken hold and control of our country," a man said.
Many of the people at the rally said they can't wait to return to Libya for the first time in decades.
