Heavy Mountain Snow Overnight, Turning Cooler For Denver

By Chris Spears

DENVER (CBS4) - Get ready for tough mountain travel if you're heading west of Denver.

A powerful jet stream crossing the state is bringing moderate to heavy snow to the northern and central mountains. In addition it will kick up winds in the 20-40 mph range with some gusts even higher on exposed passes.

Denver will see occasional wind gusts and a surge of slightly cooler air coming down from the north overnight. That surge could help kick up a few light rain or snow showers around sunrise on Sunday.

Looking ahead to the new week it will stay unsettled with a few bouts of colder air on the way. Each one will bring a new chance for snow.
