Suspect Killed In Lakewood Officer Involved Shooting
LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - Lakewood police officials say officers were involved in a shooting Wednesday night. It happened near 13th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard.
Officials tell CBS4 officers responded to reports of someone shooting a weapon. It's not clear if the man was shooting toward anyone, in the air or into the ground.
"Our agent attempted to stop that suspect. He did not comply with orders to drop the weapon. From there that suspect lead our agents to an area right behind us between Sheridan and Ames on 13th. From there additional shots were fired by the suspect. Our agents returned fire," said John Romero, a spokesman for the Lakewood Police Department.
Officers say the suspect died. The suspect has not been identified. All officers are okay.
A neighbors Nest surveillance camera recorded the sound of the gunfire. It's not the first time the camera has recorded a police shootout. Exactly one month ago, there was a shooting in front of the house in which a police officer was shot in the leg.
Further details about the suspect or the weapon have not been released.
