Jury Gets Case Of Teacher Accused Of Sex Assault

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (AP) - A jury is deliberating the case of a former Broomfield High School teacher and wrestling coach charged with having a sexual relationship with a student when she was 17.

Travis Masse, 29, is charged with sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust. The case went to the jury Thursday.

Prosecutors say Masse sent the girl thousands of text messages, many of them sexual in nature and some referring to the alleged sexual encounters.

Masse's lawyer says the girl's accounts of having sex with Masse aren't credible because they're vague and because there are no witnesses or physical evidence.

The defense says phone records indicate the two were texting each other at the same time they were allegedly having sex.
