Judge Denies Injunction To Loveland Pot Businesses

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - A judge has denied a temporary injunction to three medical marijuana businesses in Loveland that wanted to stay open while they challenge a voter-approved ban on the businesses.

The Coloradoan reports that District Judge Daniel Kaup ruled Tuesday, saying that granting the injunction would defy the will of the voters.

Patients, a doctor and a dispensary manager testified last week about the hardships they would face if the businesses couldn't stay open as the lawsuit challenging the ban proceeds.

City attorneys say patients could go to neighboring communities, such as Fort Collins and Berthoud.

Loveland residents voted in November to ban dispensaries in the city limits and gave existing ones until two weeks ago to close.

Colorado is one of 16 states that allows marijuana for medical use.
