John Bowlen Domestic Violence Conviction Appeal Denied
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4)- The appeal in the domestic violence harassment conviction against John Michael Bowlen has been denied.
Arapahoe County District Court Judge John Wheeler affirmed the denial on Thursday.
Bowlen was arrested after a domestic violence incident in Glendale on June 13, 2015. He was arrested on charges of domestic violence harassment and convicted by a jury on April 14.
According to the arrest affidavit, Bowlen told police, "This is the owner of the Denver Broncos" when he talked to officers about what happened that night.
Bowlen appealed his conviction on a legal technicality. Bowlen can ask the Colorado Supreme Court to review the case.
Bowlen is Pat Bowlen's son, owner of the Denver Broncos. The younger Bowlen had been sentenced to 24 months of probation.
He was once a marketing assistant for the Broncos but left the organization last summer. He had been on leave after his arrest.
His father is suffering from Alzheimer's and relinquished control of the team in 2014.
The team declined to comment Thursday.
