Plummer Helps Loveland's Collin Klein Prepare For NFL Combine
DENVER, Colo. (CBS4) - Former Denver Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer has been taking some time away from his retirement to help out a fellow quarterback from Colorado.
Collin Klein grew up in Loveland and always wanted to be a quarterback. None of the local schools recruited him as a quarterback, so he took his talents to Manhattan, Kan., and he thrived at Kansas State University.
Klein was a Heisman finalist this year and now he hopes to get a chance in the NFL. He's been busy preparing for the NFL Combine in two weeks and Plummer has been sharing some of his trade secrets. Now that he's moved back to Colorado, he's got plenty of time on his hands.
"I'm just trying to help him out. There are so many levels of coaching, yeah, you can call me 'Coach Plummer.' I'm not breaking down film and staying up late and going out scouting. I'm just trying to help this kid get a little bit better," Plummer said.
"It's one of those things, just to have someone who can see it and coach it right there," Klein said. "It's so big, and just being able to take his and glean from his perspective has been great."
The NFL Combine will be held in Indianapolis from Feb. 20 through Feb. 26.
