I-70 Reopens At Vail Pass After 'Slide Outs' In Snowy Conditions
(CBS4) - Interstate 70 was closed in both direction near Vail Pass Wednesday afternoon. The Colorado State Patrol blamed "slide outs." The westbound lanes reopened at about 3:50 p.m. and the eastbound reopened a little while later.
Live cameras from the Colorado Department of Transportation showed snowy road conditions.
The CSP tweeted a photo showing a semi truck blocking several lanes of traffic Thursday afternoon.
CDOT also reported a crash in the westbound lanes, west of the Eisenhower Tunnel.
"Time to make alternate plans if you are using I70 through Vail Pass today," the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management tweeted at about 3:20 p.m.
CBS4 Meteorologist Dave Aguilera says the snow will ramp up overnight and taper off late Thursday.
Areas in the foothills will see about 3-6 inches and the Denver area will see about 1-3 inches by Friday.
