Instead Of Clipping Coupons, Save $$ With Social Media
DENVER (CBS4)- It's not just for networking or gossip anymore. Now social media can save you money if you know how to use it to your benefit.
Instead of sifting through the coupon section of the newspaper, now you can get discounts sent straight to your Facebook page.
Clicking the "Like" button on certain Facebook pages could save you money.
"My dress got marked off by 40 percent and I ended up saving $200 on it," said online shopper Jennifer Remus.
"It's definitely worth it for a consumer to "like" on Facebook," said Dave Richard.
Richard studies social media and the impact it has on users' habits like shopping and eating. He believes just as you choose your friends wisely, be selective in liking retailers.
"You have those friends who are just constantly updating with junk, some brands are better than others in terms of offering deals," said Richard.
CBS followed retailers on Facebook for more than a month and found the best deals were at Kohls. The store offered postings worth 20 percent off everything.
Abercrombie posted 30 percent off shorts and 20 percent off new spring and summer merchandise.
CVS Drugstores gave back $10 for spending $30.
Quiznos offered a free sub for liking them on Facebook.
