Hotel In Golden Robbed Twice In 2 Weeks

GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Golden are searching for a robber after a hotel was hit twice in two weeks. They hope surveillance video will lead them to the robbery suspect.

"He's armed, he demands the cash, he gets it and he leaves," said Golden Police Capt. Daryl Hollingsworth. "It's something that we're absolutely concerned about. Fortunately nobody has been injured."

Someone wearing a mask robbed the Courtyard by Marriott near 6th and Indiana on Thursday at about 3 p.m. It is possible that it's the same suspect who robbed the hotel on Aug. 28.

Police closed off roads while they searched room by room, but the robber got away.

"We pulled up and there were all the cop cars at each intersection. They told us we couldn't come in because they had the place on lock down," said witness Krishan Gupta.

Those investigators are trying to figure out if the crime is linked to a string of robberies in the Denver metro area in which the robber has worn a Halloween mask.

The descriptions of the suspect are very similar, a man, 5'9" wearing a long sleeve dark shirt and blue jeans, wearing a Halloween mask and a black skull cap. He was also carrying a black handgun.

"It looks like the same guy to me, we can't say that for a fact, but he certainly looks like the same person," said Hollingsworth.

The only difference between the string of robberies and the recent hotel robbery is the time of day it occurred. The Sept. 8 robbery happened in the afternoon, the others happened late at night.
