Homeowners Upset By Castle Rock's Landscaping Decision

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4) - Homeowners in Castle Rock say they either have to yank out thousands of dollars in landscaping or face an ultimatum from the town.

People who live in The Meadows subdivision say the town says it has no choice but to bulldoze their home improvement projects because it needs the land.

Beverly Lamb bought her property years ago. She said she was told her property line extended to the end of the trees. That's not the case. Now she, along with at least a dozen other people, must move back their landscaping from city property.

A 15-foot ditch that has been eroded from development needs to be repaired immediately.

"We were told we have to move it all. It's probably close to 10 to 15 feet all the way down the line," Lamb said. "My main concern is my trees."

The city says people shouldn't assume a fence line marks their property line and recommends always double checking before landscaping.
