Historic Sugar Factory Smokestack Imploded
BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4)- The historic sugar factory smokestack in Brighton came crashing to the ground after the building was imploded.
The famous smokestack broke in half as it fell to the ground on Sunday morning.
The factory began operating as a sugar beet factory in 1917.
Last year the smokestack on the property was added to the list of Colorado's Most Endangered Places but the effort to save it failed because the structure was deemed a hazard.
