Ground Breaks On New King Soopers In Commerce City
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (CBS4) - King Soopers says its new grocery store in Commerce City will mean hundreds of new jobs.
City and store officials broke ground at 104th and Chambers Road on Tuesday. The 123,000 square foot King Soopers Marketplace store will anchor the Reunion Marketplace Center. It will serve an area that has long waited for a grocery store.
It will be the second of the chain's Marketplace stores in the Denver metro area featuring more than a typical supermarket.
"We'll have furniture in this store, jewelry in this store, we'll have a jewelry store. We'll have, of course, expanded perishables and the largest selection of grocery, natural and organics in the state." King Soopers President Russ Dispense said.
King Soopers says the store is expected to create 300 construction jobs. When it opens in the fall of next year 250 people will be hired to work there.
