Greeley Teacher Deal Includes Raises, Furloughs

GREELEY, Colo. (AP) -- Greeley-Evans School District teachers have until Friday to vote on a tentative agreement with the school board that gives them pay raises based on experience but also requires them to take furlough days.

The Greeley Tribune reported Thursday that the proposed contract was negotiated by the board and the Greeley Education Association, the bargaining representative for teachers.

Association leaders say they're confident members will ratify the deal despite the furlough days. The district will vote on the agreement in May.

The contract also details the creation of a committee to oversee systems for student conduct, links teacher evaluations with the academic performance of their students and changes the way teachers get tenure, among other things.
