Grant From Dell Foundation To Help With DPS Leadership

DENVER (CBS4) - A grant from the Dell Foundation should help Denver Public Schools in its effort to improve leadership.

Superintendent Tom Boasberg and other DPS leaders were at West Denver Preparatory School Tuesday to announce the $800,000 grant. The idea is to get assistant principals from public schools into charter schools for a year.

"And then come back to a leadership position in a district-run school and be able to share the learning and the best practices from that year that they spent in training," Boasberg said.

Denver is one of six districts around the nation to get a part of the Dell Foundation grant.

The district says by improving their principals they can improve student achievement.
