Former Avs Player Moore Increases His Claim To $68M In Civil Suit
TORONTO (CBS4) - It's been a little over 10 years since Todd Bertuzzi sucker punched the Steve Moore of the Colorado Avalanche, ending his NHL career.
The legal battle wages on, though, and this week Moore's lawyers filed documents in his civil suit against Bertuzzi and the Vancouver Canucks increasing his financial claims from $38 million to $68 million. That's how much they feel Moore lost in future earnings when his career was cut short.
Moore, 35, sustained a concussion and three fractured vertebrae in 2004 in the on-ice hit.
The civil trial is scheduled to start in Ontario Superior Court in September.
