Flooded Lobby Cancels Classes At Heritage College

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4)- Classes were cancelled at Heritage College on Wednesday afternoon and evening because of a flooded lobby.

The water built up and flooded the ceiling which then dumped into the lobby.

A tarp was placed under the leaking tiles to guide the water outside. The Wheat Ridge Fire Department helped the school clean up by pumping the water out of the building.

Restoration crews will come in and dry the building. Before classes can resume, structural engineers will need to deem whether the building will be structurally sound.

"The large amount of rain and the downspouts were clogged and the lobby of our school did get a little flooded. For the safety of the students we decided to go ahead and close for the day," said Heritage College Director Austin Morton.

Classes were cancelled for the rest of the week. They will resume Monday, Aug. 4.
