Firefighters Continue To Mop Up Barn Fire Near Longmont
LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4)- Highway 66 was closed for about three hours Wednesday afternoon on the northwest side of Longmont between U.S. 287 and Francis Street while firefighters continued to extinguish a barn fire.
Mountain View Firefighters rushed to assist Longmont Firefighters after a truck hit a fuel line at about noon. That ignited a storage unit where it was located and spread to an adjacent boxcar and a grass field.
There was a lot of smoke in the area. The shed and boxcar were destroyed in the blaze.
The storage unit was located behind Lifebridge Christian Church along Highway 66.
The fire burned less than an acre or two. It took firefighters about 25 minutes to get it under control.
Firefighters said the current conditions, with strong winds and dry areas, that the fire danger is increasing.
