Fire Danger Eases Across Much Of Colorado

DENVER (AP) - The fire danger has eased across much of the state but remains high in parts of southern Colorado.

The National Weather Service says the area at greatest risk for fires Monday is the Interstate 25 corridor south of Pueblo County and the lower elevations of the Sangre de Cristo and Wet Mountains.

March is typically one of the wettest months in Colorado but the area east of the Rockies has been way below average, raising the fire danger.

Snowfall Monday morning has eased fire concerns in eastern Colorado, including the Denver area.

It's also been snowing in the mountains. Crested Butte reported 13 inches of new snow since Sunday and Loveland had 11 inches.
