Federal Budget Cuts Scuttle Army Chorus Appearance In Denver
DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Symphony says that due to federal budget cuts, the U.S. Army Chorus won't be able to travel to Denver to appear with the orchestra as planned May 18.
The symphony said Tuesday that automatic federal spending cuts that began taking effect March 1 have forced the Washington-based U.S. Army Chorus to limit its travel.
The orchestra's May 18 program will be replaced with an evening of music by composer George Gershwin. The Colorado Symphony's artistic adviser Andrew Litton will conduct and also will be featured on piano in Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue."
