DU Pioneers Open Hockey Season

DENVER (CBS4) - The University of Denver Pioneers dropped the puck on their 2014-15 season Friday night.

It's the second year for head coach Jim Montgomery, who led DU to a conference title and a berth in the NCAA tournament last season.

"It's a night-and-day difference," forward Grant Arnold said. "Montgomery made his presence known last year. We finally established how to play Pioneer hockey under Montgomery. We know what we need to do to win."

The Pioneers, who were 20-16-6 in 2013, open their season at home against Rensselaer.
