Dish Network CEO Stepping Down
LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4) - The CEO and president of Dish Network in Littleton is stepping down. The company says Charlie Ergen will remain chairman of the Board of Directors.
Dish Network recently made a series of acquisitions under Ergen's leadership. It bought the Blockbuster Video rental chain and phone company Liberty Bell Telecom.
CBS4's news partners at the Denver Business Journal say Ergen's move is not a sign he's giving up his company.
"Given all the news of the company it was a little bit surprising they would have more news. But Charlie had hinted in the past that if he felt the company would be in good hands he would turn over the day-to-day reins," Greg Avery with the Denver Business Journal said.
Dish Network's new CEO is Joseph Clayton. He's been an executive in satellite radio, telecommunications and at Frontier Airlines.
