Denver Sheriff's Sergeant Arrested, Jailed
DENVER (CBS4) - A veteran Denver Sheriff's Department sergeant has been arrested and charged with a domestic violence charge of menacing.
Court records show Sgt. Charles Denovellis, a 19 year veteran of the department, was arrested over the weekend on a misdemeanor menacing warrant from the Colorado Springs Police Department. He was picked up in Denver and was jailed at the Denver Detention Center, the jail where Denovellis is a supervisor.
"I've been advised not to comment," said Denovellis, when contacted by CBS4 on Monday.
He was transported from the Denver jail to Colorado Springs, where he posted $2,000 bond and was released from jail. He was due in court on the case Monday for an arraignment.
Denovellis is a high ranking member of the Colorado State Fraternal Order of Police having served as CFO for the FOP and he is now listed as one of five Board of Director members for the FOP's National Legal Defense Plan.
