Denver Police Search For 2 Suspects Wanted In Hit & Run Crash With School Bus
DENVER (CBS4)- Police in Denver are searching for two suspects wanted in connection with a hit-and-run with a school bus that had children on board. The crash happened in at 28th Avenue and Havana Street on Wednesday afternoon.
After the crash, police say that three people inside the sedan ran from the scene and one was detained by officers. The search continues for the other two suspects.
The bus is from the HOPE Online Learning and witnesses told CBS4's Dillon Thomas that there were 13 students and an adult driver on board the bus when it crashed.
HOPE Online Learning released this statement to CBS4: Emergency services were immediately dispatched, and all students and the driver were evaluated for injuries at the scene. Four students were transported to the hospital by ambulance and five students were brought to the hospital by their parents to receive further evaluation and treatment. There were no reports of serious injuries. Parents of all students involved were immediately notified, and all students and their parents have been reunited.
Later Wednesday night, Denver police say the suspect vehicle was involved in another hit and run crash near 39th and Peoria Street. No one was seriously hurt in that crash.
However, the victim attempted to talk to the suspects. That's when, police say, a passenger in the suspect vehicle pointed a gun at the victim and then fled.
The victim decided to follow the suspects. Police say the suspects ran a stop sign and hit the bus.
Police did not release descriptions of the suspects.
