Denver Police Arrest 2 After Fatal Shooting Outside Denny's

DENVER (CBS4) - Police in Denver have arrested two people they believe are responsible for the killing a man outside a Denny's restaurant.

The crime happened early Saturday morning at 900 West Alameda and the suspects fled after shots rang out.

Robert Bernal, 26, and Paul Bernal, 18, were both advised that they will be facing murder charges in initial court appearances Sunday morning.

The victim, Chris Haney, reportedly was just trying to calm the suspects down when he was shot.

Police said several people were fighting inside the restaurant just before 3 a.m. and that when the brawl spilled out into the parking lot the victim was shot. He later died at the hospital.

A friend of the Denny's employees who were working at the time told CBS4 one suspect came into the restaurant drunk and agitated and that the victim was trying to calm him down. They said there was some sort of a dispute over a credit card.

Haney was the father of a young girl.
