Denver DA Beth McCann Launches New Conviction Review Unit

(CBS4) - Denver District Attorney Beth McCann on Wednesday announced the launch of a new conviction review unit. It will take on a case with credible evidence if the wrong person is convicted.

The unit will reconsider sentencing if the punishment for a crime changes over time. It will also review clemency that they get from the governor's office.

McCann says she has wanted to do this since she took office in 2017 but only got the budget for it in the last year.
