1 Dead, 1 Arrested After Deadly Fight At Halloween Party

BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4) - One man is dead and one person has been arrested after a deadly stabbing in Adams County overnight.

Brighton police were still investigating the scene at a trailer park at 3060 East Bridge Street, north of Barr Lake, at daybreak Tuesday. Neighbors heard arguing coming from the mobile home about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Minutes later, the victim, Antonio Torres, staggered to the mobile home next door and left a trail of blood. Torres, 34, of Brighton, slammed the door and woke up Jorge Hidalgo and his family.

"He slammed it and he asked if we could give him some help, call the police. We did," said Hidalgo. "He was just grabbing his stomach, saying it hurt."

Hidalgo called 911. It wasn't until police arrived that he realized how serious Torres' injuries were.

"We couldn't really see what was wrong with him until the police officer turned him over. You could see all the blood on his pants and shirt. I was in shock," said Hidalgo.

Neighbors were stunned to hear about the stabbing.

"We just don't know our neighbors, I guess. That's what went through my mind, right away," said neighbor Veronica Janachovsky.

Authorities believe the incident started when a fight broke out at a Halloween party.

Torres' friends told CBS4's Tom Mustin that he left behind a pregnant wife and a young daughter.

Investigators still want to talk to witnesses but believe the danger is over.

"I don't think there's any reason to think Brighton residents are in any danger, that there's any kind of dangerous person running around," said Brighton police spokesman John Bradley.

Police haven't released the suspect's name.

A GoFundMe page has been established for the family of Antonio Torres.
