Deadly Crash Kills 2 At Colo. Springs Airport
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- Authorities say a small plane has crashed at the north end of the Colorado Springs Airport, killing two people.
Airport director Mark Earle says the single-engine Mooney M20E was attempting to land at about noon on Wednesday when air traffic controllers lost contact with the pilot.
He says the wreckage was found at the end of a runway.
No names have been released. Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Allen Kenitzer says the plane's registered owner lives in Rapid City, S.D.
Kenitzer says the pilot had aborted one landing attempt and was entering a flight pattern for another attempt at the time of the crash.
