CU Researchers Receive Grant To Build Toilet Powered By The Sun
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4)- Researchers at the University of Colorado have received a grant to build a waterless solar-powered toilet.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation awarded the $780,000 grant as part of the "Reinvent the Toilet Challenge."
The goal of the challenge is to come up with innovate sanitation solutions.
CU's project uses concentrated sunlight to disinfect waste and produce a by-product that can be safely used instead of chemical fertilizers on farms.
