Colorado Woman Donates To Help Tackle The Growing National Debt
FLORISSANT, Colo. (CBS4)- A Colorado woman is helping tackle the nation's mounting debt. She hopes others will follow her example.
Susan Noel of Florissant, sent $200 to the Department of the U.S. Treasury. There is a department within the treasury called the Bureau of Public Debt.
The department is always accepting donations, but it relies on word of mouth to encourage people to donate.
"I donated because I believe it is the only way to start cutting back and it basically needs to be done," said Noel.
Millions would need to follow suit to make a dent in the national debt. Noel's donation amounts to about 1.4 billionth of one percent of the national debt.
