Colorado Kids Battling Cancer Head To Rockies' Spring Training
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- A group of Colorado children battling cancer are on their way to watch the Colorado Rockies hit the field for spring training.
They left Children's Hospital in Aurora on Friday morning for a road trip to Arizona. They're very excited.
"I think it's cool that they're doing it," said 13-year-old Alicia Ramsfield.
"I'm really excited I get to go and that I was one of the people chosen" said 14-year-old Abbey Gunnell.
It's an all-expense paid trip courtesy of the Rockies' shortstop Troy Tulowitzki. He wants to let the kids have fun just being kids.
"We're going to go to a Rockies game, meet the players and get baseballs signed. We're going to be at the hotel which I heard was going to be truly amazing," said Ramsfield.
It's more than a vacation because this trip will be the first time many of the children have been away from home without their parents.
