Century-Old Train Trestle Discovered By RTD
NORTHGLENN, Colo. (CBS4)- RTD crews made an historic discovery while working on the North Metro Rail Line in Northglenn.
The crews were working on the 18.5 electric commuter rail line that will run from Denver Union Station through Commerce City, Thornton and Northglenn when they uncovered a century-old train trestle bridge.
Crews stopped construction while historians checked it out. They discovered the bridge was built in 1911 and then buried in 1951 for another project.
After that fact-finding mission, experts gave RTD crews the go ahead to continue working on the N Line which is scheduled to open in 2018.
