A mudslide measure about 75 feet wide buried the highway with 7 feet of debris Tuesday. Colorado Department of Transportation officials said the road remained closed overnight. Geologists were to examine the stability of the slope before crews could clear the debris and reopen the road.

Photographs showed full grown pine trees, boulders and mud on the two-lane highway leading up the pass.

The slide happened about 90 miles east of a massive mudslide Saturday that left three people missing.
