CDOT Halts Pace Car Program Once Again
SILVERTHORNE, Colo. (CBS4) - The Colorado Department of Transportation tried another round of speed harmonization on Interstate 70 on Sunday.
Pace cars started moving at 10 a.m. That's when eastbound lanes were expected to reach nearly 2,000 vehicles per hour at the Eisenhower Tunnel.
The pace cars started east of Silverthorne and continued to Floyd Hill at an average speed of 50 miles per hour.
CDOT ended up canceling plans for the I-70 harmonization because there was just too much traffic. Instead they continued with metering at the tunnel.
