Candidates Comment On Run-Ins With Denver Police

Written by Brian Maass
DENVER (CBS4)- They speed, roll stop signs, don't carry proof of insurance and fail to obey the law.

You might be surprised to hear we're talking about Denver's two candidates for Mayor.

CBS4 investigator Brian Maass found that both Chris Romer and Michael Hancock have had numerous scrapes with the law in Denver.

Hancock has been cited for a park violation, violating the leash law, failing to license or vaccinate a dog and twice he has been caught speeding and operating an unsafe vehicle.

Our investigation found that candidate Chris Romer has been pulled over by Denver police half a dozen times in nine years for speeding, rolling stop signs, driving without insurance, and operating an unsafe vehicle.

At a debate at CBS4 , both candidates responded to what we found. Watch the video below.

Both candidates said in every case, they found Denver police to be polite and professional.
