Businesses Celebrate 5-Year Anniversary Of TREX

LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4)- On Wednesday, the Southeast Business Partnership celebrated five years since the TREX project wrapped up.

The Transportation Expansion Project made wider lanes which resulted in smoother commutes for drivers through the "narrows" the section of Interstate 25 between downtown Denver and the Denver Tech Center.

Light Rail lines were also constructed to improve mass transit through the area.

Businesses say it's made an impact.

"We were doing what it took to continue to improve transportation, the moving of goods and services and people so we remain a vibrant community in the Rocky Mountain West," said Southeast Business Partnership spokesman Mike Fitzgerald.

The $1.7 billion project was a collaboration between the Colorado Department of Transportation and the Regional Transportation District.
