Brush Fire Threatens Home, Radio Towers Near Rifle
RIFLE, Colo. (AP) — Firefighters say a brush fire about 13 miles north of Rifle is threatening a home and some radio towers.
Colorado River Fire Rescue Chief Mike Morgan says no evacuations had been ordered as of Wednesday afternoon.
The fire was reported just before 1 p.m. and grew to about 300 acres in 20 mph winds with gusts up to 40 mph. The fire temporarily closed part of Colorado Highway 13. It has reopened.
The cause of the fire hasn't been determined, but Morgan says it is likely human caused.
Three water tenders, eight engines and a helicopter were on the scene, with more resources ordered.
