Boys & Girls Clubs Hope For Holiday Help This Year
DENVER (CBS4) - The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver added five new centers to their network this year. They took over the Beacon Centers from Catholic Charities.
That's hundreds of added children who get to keep their after-school programming. They are now hoping for a little holiday help.
Marathon Milers meets every Wednesday at a new Boys & Girls Club. Hannah, 13, is at every practice, exercising right along with all her teammates.
"She's just with a bunch of typical kids and that's what she feels most comfortable with, because there aren't any barriers for her," Hannah's mother Margaretta Stofac said.
Hannah loves Marathon Milers and loves being a part of the Boys & Girls Clubs.
"I get to do a lot of fun stuff here that I don't get to do at home," Hannah said.
"She's always up for a challenge, she always has been, she's willing to try anything," Stofac said.
Most of all, Hannah appreciates being part of the team.
"I get treated like everyone else," she said.
This holiday season Hannah hopes that every child at the Boys & Girls Clubs gets to feel included.
"A lot of kids don't have enough money for toys and they wish they had toys over the year to play with," Hannah said.
