Boulder Police Investigating 3 Armed Robberies
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) – Police in Boulder are investigating three armed robberies to see if they are connected.
The most recent robbery happened Wednesday night at Lolita's Market on the Pearl Street Mall.
It is the third store to be robbed in a week.
Terry Jones is the owner of a Nick-N-Willy's Pizza across the street.
"We've been here 25 years. It'll be 26 years starting Jan. 1," said Jones.
He's worried that his store might be next.
"There's always concern because if they're armed coming in and threatening people at gunpoint that would be bad," said Jones.
At Lolita's Market a man wearing a white cloth covering his face went into the store and demanded money.
A sergeant with the Boulder Police Department said his description is very similar to the suspects involved in two recent robberies at a Subway and a Quiznos.
"That is a lot in a short period of time. After the robbery the detective explained to me this is the time of year a lot of small businesses tend to get hit," said Jones.
In both the Subway and Quiznos cases the suspects each implied they had a gun.
Police say one suspect threatened to shoot the clerk if she didn't give him the money.
"I don't really know how to process it," said local Shawn Briardy.
Briardy is a regular at Lolita's Market.
"This morning they just seemed out of sorts, and not as comfortable as they normally are," said Briardy.
Police don't know if the three cases are connected or not.
"I hope they catch the guys obviously. I hope they start doing a better job of making sure businesses are alert," said Jones.
No one was hurt in any of the robberies.
