Top Movie Theaters In Denver

Look, you know and I know that most movie theaters are exactly the same. Regal. Harkins. AMC. It really doesn't matter what company owns them. The sound quality, projection, seating and food are almost always exactly alike. With that in mind -- a few stand out.

UA Continental

I-25 & Hampden
3635 S. Monaco Pkwy
Denver, CO 80237
(303) 777-3456

You gotta love this for the big screen. Outside the IMAX screens around town, it's just about the last of the big theater, big screen venues that still exist.

Regal River Point

3565 South Platte River Drive
Sheridan, CO 80110
(303) 761-6653

AMC 24 Highlands Ranch

103 Centennial Boulevard
Highlands Ranch, CO 80129
(888) 262-4386

Look, these are my local theaters. You gotta love your local theaters. They're your go-to movie stops on a late Sunday morning. Or, a Saturday night when you want nothing more than to go to the movies and instead of hearing any of the dialog, deal with zillions of cell phone conversations and text alerts going off within 50-metres of your ear-holes. Oh, and by the way - just a complaint - I don't like the theaters where you can pick a reserved seat. Everybody picks the same little area, so an empty theater has a clump of people right in the center. Give way, people! Especially if you didn't shower this morning.

And here are some theaters that do stand out...

The Mayan

110 Broadway
Denver, CO 80203-3917
(303) 744-6799

I love the selection of food and movies at the Mayan. Also, I love the old, somewhat faded, elegance of the place. This is what a movie theater should be.

Landmark Greenwood Village

I-25 & Arapahoe Rd.
(303) 352-1992

The Landmark at Greenwood Village has a wide selection of movies, as well as a great idea: for a few dollars more on the ticket price, you get all the free popcorn and soda you want. You can also get VIP seating, with extra comfy seats and food/drink service in the theatre. There's also a full bar. That's always a plus, especially when you're being forced to watch "Due Date" or the latest from Adam Sandler.
