Woman With Colorado Ties Attacked, Killed By Bear
DENVER (CBS4)- A woman with ties to Colorado was mauled to death by a black bear in Alaska.
Erin Johnson, 27, was an outdoor lover with roots in Colorado. Her family owns the Jax Outdoor Gear stores in Northern Colorado.
Johnson was working as a research biologist in the Alaskan wilderness when the bear attacked her and a female co-worker.
Steve Murphy, president of ABR, Inc., an environmental services firm, told CBS affiliate KTVA that the bear was 10 feet from the women when they first saw it.
"The conclusion would be that they were stalked," he said.
Johnson was married just two weeks before the attack.
