Award-Winning Earphones Made By Colorado Company

By Mark Taylor

LOVELAND, Colo. (CBS4)- A small Colorado company just won a big award. Loveland based Decibullz was just named the best earphones of 2015, by the experts at Reviewed.com.

Decibullz owner Kyle Kirkpatrick designed the custom molded earphones back in 2012, after the Olympic level gymnastics coach couldn't find a pair he liked.

"I set out to invent a pair of earphone that to be honest would stay in while I'm bouncing trampoline," Kirkpatrick said.

His patented plastic mold softens in hot water, then cools and molds to fit your ear perfectly.

"What's really neat is the Decibullz are the only re-moldable custom earphones, period," Kirkpatrick added.

With about eight employees Decibullz is the smallest company ever to win the award.

"We are, we are just floored." Kirkpatrick said.

Reviewed.com experts praised the isolation technology, sound quality and affordable price.

"It's kind of surprising because I was working out of my basement when I was designing these," said Kirkpatrick.

Right now the company is launching the first ever Bluetooth custom earphones and soon hopes to branch out into other fields like security and hearing aids.

"Anyone who has to wear an earpiece for along amount of time, we want to get a product out there that makes their life better," Kirkpatrick said.
