Aspen Rancher Feeding Cows Algae To Help Nutrition
ASPEN, Colo. (CBS4) - An Aspen rancher says he's found the secret ingredient to help people get the nutrition they need.
Rancher Don Smith is feeding cows the same thing fish eat – algae.
"My hope is the large hamburgers chains will use it too and people that are concerned about their health will automatically go to it, or quickly go to it, and eventually it will go and spread through the entire cattle industry, and become a standard feed ingredient," said Smith.
He said he's trying to reduce saturated fats and increase omega three acids so people don't have to give up eating burgers.
