Arvada K-8 On Lockdown Due To Threat
ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4)- Arvada K-8 school was placed on lockdown Friday afternoon due to an outside threat.
Several police officers patrolled the campus after a school resource officer identified a threat outside the school. The lockdown was ordered to keep students and staff safe.
Students were cleared classroom by classroom once police determined it was safe to leave the building.
All students who would walk home were kept at the school until parents could pick them up. Students who would ride the bus home were allowed to board the buses.
The school sent this letter home to parents:
Dear Arvada K-8 families,
The School has been placed on lockdown due to a potential threat outside school. Law enforcement and Jeffco Security are responding. Students and staff are safe, but must remain inside the building. We will provide additional details as we learn them.
If you are receiving this message while you are at the school, please remain in your vehicle until the situation is resolved.
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we will always take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
