Adoptive Father Accused Of Stomping On Son's Testicles

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A Colorado Springs man convicted of beating his adopted teenage son has been sentenced to 119 years in prison.

The Gazette reported Monday that Jeremiah Lovato, 40, was accused of hitting his son with lumber, a meat tenderizer and a belt. The two lived in Craig before moving to the outskirts of Colorado Springs in 2009 after the adoption became official.

Lovato could face up to life in prison under Colorado's sex offender laws. He was accused of stomping on his adopted son's testicles and convicted of sexual assault.

Authorities say the beatings were revealed when the teen jumped a fence in January 2010 and ran to a neighbor rather than face more abuse.
