8 Injured After Jeep Slams Into Lakewood Store

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4/AP) - Eight people were injured after a Jeep crashed into a Cellular Vibe store in Lakewood Saturday morning.

The Lakewood Police Department identified the driver of the Jeep as Larry Faulkner, 75, of Wheat Ridge. He was transported to St. Anthony's Central Hospital with serious injuries.

The Cellular Vibe store is located at 7155 West Colfax Ave.

Lakewood police spokesman Ty Countryman says two people suffered serious injuries. Two people had minor injuries, while another had moderate injuries. Three people were treated at the scene and released. At least three of the injured were customers. Names were not released.

Countryman says the SUV was traveling east on Colfax Avenue near Wadsworth before it veered over the median and crossed several lanes of traffic, crashing into a parked car and ricocheting into the store.

Countryman says the driver's injuries appear to be from a "medical episode" that may have caused the man to lose control.

"I'm on the computer, I'm on my computer screen not looking up all and then I just hear, just madness, like just out of nowhere, it was just split-second, I hear glass and someone yelling maybe and then I just feel this immediate strong pressure up against me and it was obviously the SUV had hit the desk and the desk had pinned me back against the wall," injured employee Alisha Craycraft said.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and it's unknown if any charges will be filed.
