Tire Comes Of Semi, Kills Woman On I-25

THORNTON, Colo. (AP/CBS4) - Authorities have identified the woman who died when a tire flew off a semitrailer and slammed into her car, crushing the roof.

Police say Jennifer Marie Durazo, 35, of Fredrick died on Interstate 25 north of Denver.

Police say the semi lost two of its rear tires while driving south on Interstate 25 at around 4:15 p.m. Monday afternoon. Police say one of the tires hit the median, flew in the air and onto Durazo's Camry.

"It appeared to have struck the vehicle just below the windshield and mainly on the roof area, causing that portion of the vehicle to cave in," Officer Matt Barnes with Thornton police said.

Police identified the truck driver as Terry Alan Fink, 70, of Toledo, Iowa. The owner of the truck, Z Line Ltd. of Toledo declined to comment.

Fink didn't immediately return a message left through his company.

Investigators will study the truck's maintenance and inspection records and the wheels.

"They'll be looking at everything involved with the vehicle -- brakes, the wheels the lug nuts," Barnes said.
