Mom Delivers Daughter By Herself In Passenger Seat

DENVER (CBS4) - A baby girl just couldn't wait to arrive, forcing mom and dad to stop on a Denver street so she could be born on the way to the hospital.

Day-old Aubrey Jane's story is a bit unusual, but will likely be a conversation piece for a very long time.

It was quite a car ride to get to the hospital. Aubrey's parents, Kyle and Shannon Dennett from Castle Rock, were headed to Saint Joseph's Hospital in Denver on Interstate 25 when dad had to pull over because mom went into labor.

Kyle called paramedics, but by the time firefighters got there the baby had already arrived.

The 27-year-old mother actually delivered the baby on her own while dad was driving.

"It's an amazing, crazy story but we're just feeling really blessed," Kyle said. "She actually delivered her on her own while I was driving and we pulled over at 4th and Downing and called 911."

"I just sort of scooped her up with my hands and put her on my chest and it really was miraculous ... it was as near painless as it could have been," Shannon said.

Mom and baby are doing well. Dad says he had to use his shoe lace to tie off the umbilical cord -- being instructed by a paramedic by phone.

Aubrey is the couple's third child, but Dec. 23 is now a birthday for two of their children.
